KL&S would like to give a big thank you to all the participants, volunteers and everyone who supported the event this year. The winning word was Hallux, and our big winners were Faith United Church’s “Spells Angels”, Katherine Gibson, Shane Wray and Suzanne Savard.
Empire Life’s “Zom-bees” raised the most pledges, Kingston Frontenac Public Library’s “Bee-tniks” won most team spirit and the best costumes were awarded to Queen’s University Legal Aid’s “Bee-ch Bums”.
Here are some pictures from the event:
Born and raised in Perth, Ontario, Chuck was selected to lead our team nearly two years ago, bringing a diversity of experience to the table that we are excited to have. A two-time Queen’s grad with a B.Comm (Hons) and an MBA, Chuck is thrilled to be able to call Kingston home once again.
It’s the most wonderful time of year! We are thrilled to be hosting our “Grate Groan-Up Spelling Bee” yet again, and it promises to be bigger and better than ever!
Fact: Nine million Canadians struggle with low-literacy. It’s an alarming statistic, and it makes one thing evidently clear: something needs to be done.
